Service Design Master's Program – Practice-based

Graduation Requirement : One domestic and international conference proceeding paper each, one publication registered by the Korea Citation Index (KCI), graduation thesis as a course of “Developing practical talents in service design.”

Duration : 2-Year course (4 semesters)

We aim to cultivate practical talents in service design with a focus on “Service Design for Social Innovation” and “Product Service Systems”. The specific research content is ;

1st Semester (Basic Stage) : Learning basic service design theory and problem solving methods
2nd semester (Applied stage) : Divided into social innovation design and product service system tracks, joint industry-academia projects with SME
3rd semester (Development stage) : The social innovation design track carries out projects in connection with local governments, and the product service system track carries out projects in connection with companies and prepares business proposals to establish future business models.
4th Semester (Advanced Stage) : Leadership building stage, completion of expertise in related fields through internships with related companies or institutions

Service Design PhD Program – Theory-based

Graduation Requirement : “Service Design Researcher Training Course”, One domestic or international conference proceeding paper, One publication in the Korea Citation Index (KCI), One international journal publication (SCI, SCI-E, SCOPUS) and Graduation thesis

The PhD program is a total of 3 years (6 semesters) to accumulate new theories and advance academically the service design competency learned in the master's course or industry. The specific research content is ;

1st Semester : Discover and propose research topics
2nd semester (QUALIFICATION) : Thesis qualification test (foreign language, research topic presentation)
3rd semester : In-depth research: Empirical Research 1
4th semester (PROPOSAL) : Presentation of preliminary results on research subject progress
5th semester : In-depth research: Empirical Research 2
6th semester (DEFENSE) : Final thesis evaluation

Education platform

Dongseo University operates the BK Project Team, the Service Innovation Design Center (SIDC), and the International Service Innovation Design Conference (ISIDC) in order to enhance the capabilities of service design and establish the following core performance indicators;

BK Project Team : Research on basic competencies and development of differentiated research models at DSU
Service Innovation Design Center (SIDC) : Performing various case studies as an industry-academia-research center
International Service Innovation Design Conference (ISIDC) : For various research results, exchange with excellent domestic and international research
